Nicola Adilman is a multidisciplinary artist whose artistic journey encompasses contemporary dance, choreography, and filmmaking, bringing a rich depth of creativity and experience to her teaching. Originally from Toronto, Canada, she began her training at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, graduating in 2017 and earning recognition with the Kathryn Ash Leadership Award and Second Prize in the Winchester Prize for her choreography of inanimated. Nicola toured internationally and across the UK with London-based EDGE Dance Company, performing works by Jorge Crecis, Hagit Yakira, and Fabio Liberti under the artistic direction of Jeanne Yasko. She completed her Master of Arts in Dance with Distinction from London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) in 2020.
Nicola’s dance films have been featured in prestigious festivals, including FORM Vancouver, Dance Made in Canada Festival, and Branch Collective’s Dance OnScreen. She has presented her choreographic works at notable venues, such as Play by Play at the Resolution Festival (2023) and As of Right Now (2024) at The Place in London, England. The latter received a four-star review from The Guardian and has since been performed in prominent London venues, including Chisenhale Dance Space, Harrow Arts Centre, and The Rose Lipman Building. Nicola has also participated in the RBC Emerging Artist Action Lab with Peggy Baker Dance Projects as an emerging choreographer in 2021.
Currently based in London, England, Nicola works as a freelance choreographer, performer, filmmaker, and teacher, with a practice spanning the UK and Canada. Through her multifaceted artistry, she continues to create and contribute to the contemporary dance and filmmaking landscape, inspiring audiences and students alike.
Nicola also works as a life model for many different mediums. She poses for drawing, painting, photography and sculpture.
